The Somerville Foundation for Animals proudly presents the 5th annual Somerville Dog Festival on Sunday September 14th 10am-3pm.  at Trum Field ! Once again, it will feature an exciting array of dog sports demonstrations as well as a one-of-a-kind opportunity for the public to try these activities with their dogs. Admission is free but monetary donations as well as pet care items (including pet food, collars, leashes, carriers) will be accepted at the gate. We hope you enjoy the day with us!

The Somerville Foundation for Animals is a 501(c)3 charitable organization, established to raise funds for and awareness of companion animal-related issues within the community.

The Foundation strives to provide education and awareness about responsible pet ownership within the city, and to support, through donations and community involvement, local organizations in their efforts to provide care and education to pet owners and their companion animals.

The Foundation was founded in 2011 by Dr. Adam Parker, DVM and Marjie Alonso, CPDT, KPA CTP, CDBC, after years of community organization and involvement, including two large, successful fund raiser events, the 2010 and 2011 Somerville Dog Festivals.

The Somerville Dog Festival, the only one of its kind in the country, offers “Try It” areas for dog owners to experience myriad dog sports and activities with their dogs; demonstrations of those sports and more; a fashion show and owner-dog look-alike and tricks competitions for attendees; raffles, vendor booths; a demonstration of police K9 work; and free clinics in basic training for the public.

Bailey’s All for the Animals Fundraiser and adoption event 2014 in Whitman MA

The 2nd annual Bailey’s All for the Animals Fundraiser and adoption event will be held on Sunday September 14th   10am-4pm at the Whitman VFW on Essex Street.  There will man rescue organizations like  Survivor Tales Rescue, Skyller’s Dog & Cat Rescue

 

Bailey’s All for the Animals was created in loving memory of a black lab Bailey,who for 10-1/2 years loved all creatures large and small.

His organization and this event were created in hopes of raising awareness, funds and stories for homeless animals searching for the one loving forever home that they deserve.

Pooch-A-Palooza 2014 in Topsfield MA

Pooch-A-Palooza will be held at the Topsfield Fairgrounds in Topsfield, MA on September 6th and 7th, 2014 from 10am-4pm


It’s the perfect dog-lovers day out — it’s Pooch-A-Palooza at Topsfield Fairgrounds, which welcomes all dog breeds and owners of all ages on Saturday, September 6 and Sunday, September 7. This two-day festival brings together pet owners and pooches in a safe environment, and raises much needed funds for the local rescue organization, PAWS New England. Use this deal to stop by on one day of the festival, and hang out on the pooch playground, the vendor promenade, food truck plaza, or the photo palace. For these two days, Topsfield Fairgrounds truly is a pooch paradise.

Enjoy a wide range of participatory and entertainment activities designed to interest dogs of all breeds and owners of all ages!

Your support will help us raise much needed charitable donations to benefit select non-profit organizations whose common mission is the health and well being of dogs and dog owners!

The Animal Protection Center of Southeastern MA operates an adoption center in Brockton, MA that cares for more than 1,000 animals each year. In addition to finding homes for animals in need, we serve as a community resource for pet owners by offering services such as dog training, low cost vaccination clinics and spay/neuter assistance, as well as humane education to teach children the importance of caring for animals.

Unleashed by Petco’s Annual Summer Snow Day 2014 in Hingham MA

Unleashed by Petco’s Summer Snow Day will be held from 9 a.m. until the snow melts on Saturday, August 23, 2014   at the Hingham Shipyard  location.  Dogs can escape the paw-blistering heat with the ultimate treat of a Summer Snow Day in a  winter wonderland for dogs to play and prance in the cool, refreshing snow.

 There will also be several family-friendly activities for everyone to enjoy including local food trucks and adoptable animals looking for their forever homes. Unleashed by Petco dog trainers will also on on-site to answer questions pet parents may have, as well as share information on their Positive Dog Training methods. MSPCA Walk for Animals 2014 in Boston, Hyannis & Metheun MA

The MSPCA-Angell Walk for Animals will be held simultaneously in Boston, Methuen, and Hyannis on Sunday, September 7th. Take the lead—walk with your best friend! You can make a difference in the lives of thousands of animals.  Each walk is about 1 mile long.

 The MSPCA-Angell Walk for Animals will be held on the Boston Common Parade Grounds at the corner of Charles and Beacon Street on Sunday, September 7, 2014 (registration begins at 11:00am, the Walk begins at 12:00pm).

MSPCA Parvovirus Vaccination Clinics for Lowell & Lawrence Pet Owners 2014

A highly contagious viral disease has killed at least 15 dogs in Lowell.

Lowell Animal Control Officer Darlene Wood has said  there have been 15 confirmed cases of the canine parvovirus in the past two weeks

 

The  MSPCA-Nevins Farm, along with local veterinarians, Lawrence Animal Control, the Lowell Humane Society and the Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society (MRFRS)—is offering four fee-waived parvovirus vaccination clinics for pet owners in Lawrence and Lowell.

The clinics have been confirmed for the following locations and dates:

MSPCA-Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, Mass.: Thursday, Aug. 21 and Friday, Aug. 22 from 3:00p.m. to 6:00p.m.

South Common Park, Lawrence, Mass.: Sunday, Aug. 24 from 9:00a.m. to 12:00p.m.

Central Catholic School, Lawrence, Mass.: Sunday, Aug. 24 from 1:00p.m. to 4:00p.m.

Any resident of Lawrence and Lowell is eligible for the vaccination program. If residents believe their dogs may be suffering from parvovirus—characterized by symptoms such as vomiting, lethargy, diarrhea—they should call their veterinarian immediately.

Taunton Animal Shelter Wolf Walk 2014 in Dighton MA

The 1st Woof Walk Slated for the Friends of the Taunton Animal shelter will be   at Araujo Farms, 1522 Williams St., Dighton, MA on Sunday, September 21, 11a.m. to 3p.m. 

This is a community event to raise money for the Taunton Animal Shelter. Explore the beautiful scenery as you wind through the pumpkin patches of Araujo Farms with your 4-legged friend! The dog walk includes face painting, food, doggie photos, microchipping, Ruff Raffle, Furry Furry Friend Photo Contest, and a K-9 demonstration from the Middleborough Police K9 Unit. This event is open to non-walkers too. Walkers raising $75 or more will receive a t-shirt.
